Ara Mina had her first intimate scene with John Arcilla
Award-winning actor John Arcilla revealed in a recent interview that he was the “first kiss” of actress Ara Mina.
John made a successful transition from theater to mainstream media. He got his first Best Actor award in 1996 for the movie “Mulanay: Sa Pusod ng Paraiso” In that year’s Metro Manila Film Festival his superb acting was recognized. The movie also featured seasoned stars Jaclyn Jose, Nonie Buencamino, and Gina Alajar.
However, after that acting award, a rumor circulated within the showbiz circle that his talent fee became higher and that he was not easy to work with. Because of that, John Arcilla said in an interview on Philstars YouTube Channel that he almost quit as acting offers were not coming in.
“Sabi lang sa akin ng isang publicist, maybe they don’t want to get me in the film industry baka meron kang mga ka-kumpitensya kaya ka ginagawan ng issue,” he shared.
He admitted he was really saddened by what happened and when he was about to give up, he received a call from director Laurenti Dyogi. That was for an episode of the weekly crime investigative documentary show “Calvento Files”.
“Pagkatapos ng shoot, sabi ni Lauren Dyogi sa akin, ‘Okay ka naman pala ka-trabaho e.’ Napatulala ako. That was after several months na wala akong trabaho,” the critically-acclaimed actor shared.
The episode he did for the said show also featured Ara Mina. Having that chance to save his career as an actor, John would often recall an interesting anecdote. “‘Yun nga ang palagi kong bina-brag kay Ara Mina. Sabi ko, ‘Ara Mina, I was your first kiss sa Calvento Files.’ Bagong-bago pa lang si Ara Mina noon. Bata pa siya,” the actor said. From that, his confidence was restored as offers kept on coming in.
