J&T Express Vows to Address Labor Issues After Workers Staged Strike Before Major Sale

The J&T Express has promised to address labor issues after some workers staged a strike before a major sale.

Last June 4, 2022, the workers’ union United Rank and File Employees of J&T Express (URFE) declared a strike. The laborers plan to stage a protest to show their opposition regarding several labor issues.

The workers are complaining about the termination of the workers’ union president, lack of overtime pay and health benefits, diminution of benefits such as allowances, and harassment on the number of union leaders and members.

Recently, the logistics delivery company announced to resolve the labor issues within the firm after the employees stage a strike before the most-anticipated online shopping sale. The firm expressed its willingness to resolve the issue.

J&T Express counsel of the United Rank and File Employees Sonny Matula said that the company will take positive steps to address the problems. He also said that some issued need technical assistance from the higher office.

There are other issues which are still subject to technical assistance to be given by the National Conciliation and Mediation Board,” Matula said.

Last week, some delivery employees including sorters and truck drivers staged a strike in Laguna to ask for better labor conditions.

Matula also expressed its happiness after they made an agreement with the courier’s management earlier this week. “We are glad that we had an agreement with the management of the J&T Express last Monday,” Matula added.
