Giant Tricycle That Can Withstand Floodwaters Earns Praises Online
The giant tricycle than can brave floodwaters in Hagonoy, Bulacan goes viral and earns praises from the netizens.
Last week, the state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced the official start of the rainy season. Possible flooding is already expected in some areas.
A tricycle driver named Joselito Lopez comes up with the idea of modifying his trike due to the frequent flooding in Hagonoy. He asked his welder friend to modify his vehicle and elevate the flooring of his trike.
“Pagmababa ito halos hindi kami makapamasada rito nai-istop kami naghihintay pa kmi kaya ngayon naisipan ko pataasan,” Lopez said.
Lopez goes viral online after one of his passengers posted the video footage of his giant tricycle. The video immediately spread like a wildfire online and garnered various reactions from social media users.
PSSG Timhar Muhali gets mesmerized after he saw the giant tricycle and posted it online. The policeman said that this modified trike can really help the residents during flood. “Nakakatuwa po sir kahit gaano po kalalim yung tubig ay pwede pong dumaan,” Muhali said.
Other drivers imitated the huge trike but charge the same fare to passengers but charge a little bit higher when the village is submerged in floodwaters.
Hagonoy Traffic Management Unit Traffic Officer Michael Reyes said that these giant trikes are very useful during times of calamity.
