Fire is one of the most unexpected incidents that put many lives on danger because it could happen anytime and anywhere without noticeable indications. It could lead to a loss of properties and even lives.
Most fire incidents could start with electrical problems, unplugged appliances, and gadgets but there are tons of factors that can cause fire, which is really hard to prevent. It could leave victims with a little to start with or nothing at all.
On Monday (May 23, 2022), Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson Commodore Armand Balilio reported that Roro Vessel MV Mercraft 2 catches fire about 1, 000 yards from the port of Real, Quezon.
The passenger boat filled with 124 passengers left the island at 5 am and headed to the municipality of Real in Quezon. The boat captain also commanded the personnel to abandon the ship.
Several passengers have no choice but to hold on to floating objects while the fire consumes the sea vessel. Luckily, another seacraft came to rescue the passengers who jumped into the water.
Balilio said that at least 6 passengers have been brought to the hospital. The authorities continue to conduct search and rescue operations. According to PCG, over 105 passengers have been rescued.
“Wala naman pong nare-report na casualties o namatay. Ang ginagawa natin ngayon ay tuloy po ‘yung rescue operations hanggang ma-account natin lahat ng pasahero,” Balilio said.
