Petitions Against Marcos COC Filed Before the Supreme Court
MARCOS – The camp of the presumptive president appealed to those who are pushing for his COC cancellation before the Supreme Court.
Undeniably, the presidential candidacy of former Senator Bongbong Marcos is one of the most controversial candidacies in Philippine history. Several petitions seeking for his disqualification from the presidential race or the cancellation of his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) were filed before the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
BBM’s candidacy ignited the issues surrounding the Martial Law, the regime of the late dictator, their family’s alleged ill-gotten wealth, and his tax charges. All the petitions were dismissed Comelec.
The camp of former Senator Bongbong Marcos has declared victory in the Elections 2022 after 98% of the votes has been canvassed. He garnered over 31 million votes with a wide lead.
However, amid the Marcos camp rejoicing over the results of the election, a petition seeking the cancellation of the COC of the presumptive president was filed before the Supreme Court. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, at least 6 petitioners cited material misrepresentation in the push for the cancellation of his COC.
Furthermore, the petitions also appealed to the Supreme Court to issue a temporary restraining order against the canvassing of the votes for the former Senator. According to his spokesperson, they have yet to receive a copy of the petition.
The camp of Marcos Jr. appealed to the petitioners to just help the former Senator whom he tagged as “president-elect” and “vice president-elect Inday Sara Duterte” who were voted by the majority. He stressed that the Filipino people has spoken.
“Allows us to be more productive and learn to respect the will of the Filipino people,” Rodriguez said to the petitions against Marcos Jr. who is currently in Australia.
