Karen Davila, Mel Tiangco Roast Comelec Over Failed VCMs

Broadcasters Karen Davila and Mel Tiangco go viral after roasting Comelec on national TV.

KAREN DAVILA – Respected broadcasters Karen Davila and Mel Tiangco roast Comelec over apparent failures of VCMs in various areas.

Several vote counting machines (VCMs) have been reported to have malfunctioned amid voting hours. This unfortunate incident caused delays and there were reported a lot of VCMs malfunctioned on the election day. Some problems include VCMs not accepting ballots, scanners not working, jamming papers, and failure to read the ballot.

It has caused hours of delay. There were also other cases like power interruption that resulted in the suspension of voting temporarily in some areas of the country. And now, with all these failures and errors, broadcasters such as Karen Davila and Mel Tiangco catch attention online for going ballistic on national television.

Davila insists why can’t the en banc grant the extension of voting hours requested by numerous officials due to the errors of VCM. She stressed that it’s not the pandemic or the people’s fault because the VCMs are under the management of the en banc.

“Hindi kasalanan ng pandemya kung bakit nagka-ganito ang pila, ang mga VCM machines po. Apat na oras nakatayo sa linya ang mga tao para bumoto, paano naging kasalanan ng tao? At paano naging kasalanan ng pandemya yun?” Davila stressed.

Tiangco, on the other hand, snapped at how the en banc failed to see these errors and possibilities when, in fact, before that election day, they’ve had enough time to carefully examine the machines. She firmly pointed out that the examination is precisely meant to avoid such errors causing delays.

The veteran broadcasters expressed, “Ano daw ba ang kinulang at hindi nakamit yoon? Nagkaroon pa ng mga tinatawag na contingency VCM…”
