13-Year-Boy Plays Real Firearm Thinking It Was Toy Gun & Accidentally Kills Cousin

A 13-year-old boy played with a real firearm he found atop the cabinet and accidentally shot his cousin while playing.

A six-year-old boy passed away after he was shot by his cousin at their house at Barangay Don Montano, Umingan, Pangasinan. The two were just playing inside the house when the 13-year-old kid found a gun atop the cabinet.

The minor suspect pulled the firearm’s trigger and accidentally shot the young boy identified as Lucio Angelo Andres. The victim has been rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival, according to Umingan Police StationDeputy Chief Police Lieutenant Socorro Arciaga.

“Kinalabit ng bata, accidentally tinamaan yung kaniyang pinsan. Na-shock daw yung pinsan niya na nakabaril. So ni-report daw niya ito sa mama niya, halos hindi nga siya makapagsalita,” Arciaga said.

Initially, the teenager thought that the firearm was just a toy gun. The improvised shotgun was owned by the victim’s father. The young kid has been turned over by his parents to the police authorities.

The young suspect who is under the custody of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office got traumatized and can’t speak after the incident. The latter explained that he did not intend to kill his cousin.

The authorities have also reminded the public regarding the Comelec’s election gun ban.

“Kung may Makita sila na mga loose firearms sa kanilang mga bahay ay mangyari lamang na i-turn over nila sa pinakamalapit na police station ang lahat ng loose firearms para hindi na maulit ang mga ganitong pangyayari,” Arciaga added.
