The May 2022 Elections which include both local and national polls are only three days away from now. The candidates are down to the last two (2) days that they are allowed to campaign. Most of the best choose to be with their volunteers and supporters until the campaign period is over.

As for the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the poll body is currently in the process of final testing of the voting machines. It will be an automated poll using the Smartmatic machines. The sealing of the machines nationwide is also ongoing.

For the national election, there are 10 candidates for president, 9 for vice president, and 63 for senators after one (1) of them has decided to drop his bid. The absentee voting or the voting of the Filipino Overseas Workers (OFWs) abroad and Pinoys who are out of the country are now ongoing.

According to Commissioner Marlon Casquejo who is the chairman of the poll body’s Steering Committee, they are just waiting for the election day. He assured that there will be no failure of elections when it comes to the machines that will be used in counting the votes. Furthermore, he expressed that they have laid down the contingency procedures.

Casquejo expressed that if worse comes to worst like there would be a running out of the contingency machines on election day, the poll will still continue citing that the ballots are still there.
