Vico Sotto ‘Convinced each other in a civilized manner’ is for Kakampinks?

Vico Sotto has this message to supporters of politicians

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto defended his decision not to meddle with national politics even though many people have been urging him to endorse certain candidates.

Before and during the official campaign period for the 2022 elections has started, Mayor Vico has reiterated several times that he will not get involved in the matter of national politics.

There were also those supporters who eagerly urged him to endorse the politician they want. It is a known fact that Mayor Vico’s uncle Senate President Tito Sotto is running for vice president. However, the son of veteran comedian Vic Sotto has not even officially endorsed his own uncle.

Tito Sen said in a previous statement that he and his nephew have talked about this already and that he knows Mayor Vico will not meddle with national politics.

In a recent report from ABS-CBN, the Pasig City Mayor once again stressed his decision not to endorse any politicians running for a national position in this year’s election.

He also aired his dismay over the manner in which supporters would urge others to vote for the candidate they prefer. “Ang pulitika, ang eleksyon, dapat kumbinsihan yan so let’s convince each other in a civilized manner, in a polite manner,” the young mayor said.

Mayor Vico Sotto also said that doing the convincing in a wrong way will more likely result in a negative reaction. “Baka natu-turn off ‘yung ibang tao sa kanila dahil sa attitude nila na, ‘Kapag hindi namin kayo kasama, masamang tao kayo,’” the Mayor said.

For him, this is simply not the right approach to convince other people to vote for the politician that they are promoting. Mayor Vico did not mention any presidential candidate but reportedly, Kakampink netizens on Twitter have been urging Mayor Vico to endorse the presidential candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo and denounce the candidacy of former Senator Bongbong Marcos.
