Customs Recover Alleged Fake Goods in Valenzuela City Worth P190-M
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has confiscated about P190 million worth of alleged fake goods in Valenzuela City.
On Tuesday (April 26, 2022), the Customs reported that the agency confiscated alleged counterfeit goods worth P190 million. BOC raided the warehouse in Mapulang Lupa, Valenzuela City last April 22, 2022.
BOC conducted the raid operation through the Manila International Container Port-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service together with the National Bureau of Investigation-Special Action Unit as well as various “Intellectual property rights (IPR).
The authorities launched the operation through a Letter of Authority and seized several counterfeit products inside the warehouse. The goods are estimated to be worth P190 million.
The fake goods recovered from the warehouse were imported kitchenware, housewares, IPR infringing goods, foodstuff as well as other items.
“The goods found are estimated to be worth P190 million, Inventory of the goods shall be undertaken by assigned customs examiners and shall be witnessed by CIIS, Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), and representatives of the warehouse,” BOC said.
The agency will issue a warrant of seizure against the producer of counterfeit goods for violation of Section 118 (f) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to R.A. No. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of 1999.
