BONGBONG MARCOS’ PLATFORMS – Here are the accomplishments of former Senator Bongbong Marcos and his plans if he wins the May 2022 Elections.

Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos is one of the 10 candidates for president in the upcoming May 2022 Elections. Undeniably, he has the most controversial bid that was challenged by several petitions filed before the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Personal Background:

Former Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is undeniably one of the most popular politicians in the Philippines. He is the second child and the only son of the late former dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and former First Lady Imelda Marcos. More commonly called “Bongbong”, he had his kindergarten and elementary education at the Institucion Teresiana and La Salle Green Hills in Manila. In 1970, he was sent to England where he studied at Worth School while the Philippines is under Martial Law. With regards to his college degree, the former Senator claimed that he is a graduate of Oxford University but the institution confirmed that he did not finish the degree. He enrolled at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania for Masters in Business Administration program but he failed to complete it.

Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr. married a lawyer, Louise Araneta-Marcos, in 1993. Their marriage was blessed with three (3) sons – Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos who is now running for governor in Ilocos Norte, Joseph Simon Marcos, and William Vincent Marcos.

Accomplishments:

When he returned to the government in 1991, he was elected as representative of the 2nd District of Ilocos Norte. He focused on the main industry of the province which is agriculture and built processing and storage facilities for their products. Ilocos Norte became the main supplier of rice, tomatoes, and beans. In 1995, he vied for a seat in the Senate but he placed only 16th. He took another senatorial run in 2010 and that was when he won. He was co-author of 17 bills that were passed into law during his term from 2010-2013. From 2013 to 2016, then-Senator Bongbong Marcos refiled 28 of his bills from the 15th Congress as part of the 52 bills he filed – one of them was passed into law. The only bill that was passed into law was Senate Bill 1186 which sought the postponement of the 2013 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections. He was a co-author of four (4) other bills that were passed into law. During the pandemic, he launched a PPE Distribution Program and distributed tablets for the distance learning of some students.
