Cops Arrest Senior Citizen While Processing Police Clearance Over Standing Arrest Warrant
PASUQUIN, ILOCOS NORTE – The police authorities have arrested a senior citizen while processing his police clearance over a pending case.
Nowadays, most companies in the Philippines were asking several requirements from applicants before giving them a job. Employers usually require clearances to check the applicant’s background.
Some of the requirements were NBI clearance, barangay clearance, and police clearance to ensure that applicants have no pending criminal records.
A 65-year-old grandpa has been arrested while trying to acquire a police clearance in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte. The senior citizen is supposed to submit the police clearance to his company as a requirement.
The police officers were processing the old man’s clearance when an existing warrant of arrest appeared. The arrest warrant is pending since 2014 for violation of section 5 of the Republic Act 9262 or Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act.
The accused has yet to release a statement regarding the issue. The elderly man will pay the bail for his temporary release.
Pasuquin Police Station Chief Pmaj. Vancioly Luzano has also advised the Filipinos who were in the same situation to go to the nearest police station to settle the issue as soon as possible and prevent further trouble.
“Para sa ating mga kasamahan na may ganitong sitwasyon ay sumurender na, ipaalam na sa malapit na station para tignan kung paano ayusin,” Luzano said.
