Some Supporters of Mayor Isko Moreno Shifts Support to Vice Pres. Leni Robredo’s Bid
ISKO MORENO – The presidential candidate and incumbent Manila Mayor broke his silence on the move of some of his supporters shifting support to Vice President Leni Robredo.
In less than a month, both local and national elections are set to take place and the Filipinos will be electing the next president of the Republic of the Philippines. This election has one of the most numbers of presidential candidates and 10 bets remained on the official ballot following the screening and removal of nuisance candidates.
One of the presidential bets is incumbent Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. He is the standard-bearer of Aksyon Demokratiko. Placing 3rd in the latest survey result conducted by Pulse Asia, the Manila Mayor is unfazed saying that the results do not bother him as it is the people who will vote on the election day and not the surveys.
However, less than a month before the May 2022 Elections, some of the supporters of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno announced the shifting of their support to Vice Pres. Leni Robredo’s presidential bid. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Thomas Orbos, the overall coordinator of Moreno’s volunteer group NaISKO, confirmed their support to the Vice President.
Mayor Isko Moreno was asked about his reaction to the move of some of his supporters shifting support to Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. According to the report, the presidential aspirant and incumbent Manila Mayor is unfazed by it.
The Manila Mayor also stressed that the shifting of their support won’t affect his campaign. When asked if he is not hurt after some of his supporters abandoned him, he answered “no with all honesty”. According to him, he is used to the road having roadblocks.
“Sanay ako na may grava, kapag nadapa ka magagalusan ka. What matters most is that sa bawat dapa mo, babangon ka,” the Manila Mayor said.
However, according to Mayor Isko Moreno, he was not even informed about some of the members of the groups supporting him before they shifted their support to another presidential candidate. He stressed that it is a test of character that allegedly separates the “boys and men”. Meanwhile, he expressed that under democracy, they can do whatever they want to do.
