Will Smith and Chris Rock are the men of the hour after the former slapped the latter because of his joke. Will, who saw his wife’s reaction to the joke, stood up immediately, walked his way calmly to the comedian speaking in front of the stars before giving a big blow of his palms on his face. After that altercation, Rock has accordingly decided not to press charges.

And currently circulating online is a “statement” from Rock apologizing to Smith over what happened. But the comedian’s team denied that they have released a statement. According to The Hollywood Reporter’s journalist Rebecca Keegan, she tweeted, Rock “has not yet issued a statement.”

It added, “There is a statement going around purporting to be from Rock that is not from him, per his team. It’s the one that starts, ‘As a comedian it can be difficult to understand…'”

In the viral statement which turned out to be fake, a part of it said, “Comedy is never about poking fun at or making lite of people with major ordeals happening in their lives. Comedy is about using real life circumstances to create laughter and bring light to an otherwise dark world.”
