Jonvic Remulla Justifies Giving Out Money During BBM’s Rally

It was raining cash during a Uniteam rally and Jonvic Remulla explains his actions of giving out cash.

JONVIC REMULLA – Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla insists giving out of money during a Uniteam rally is not an offense and this is his explanation.

Reelectionist Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla made rain cash on Tuesday during the campaign rally of presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice-presidential candidate Sara Duterte-Carpio. The campaign rally happened at a covered court in Dasmariñas City, on March 22.

Some people from the crowd have received money from the governor after joining the dance and singing competitions. Many people reacted to this saying that such an action can be considered as vote-buying. According to the Omnibus Election Code, vote-buying is not allowed. One who will be found guilty of this may face penalties such as imprisonment for 1 to 6 years and disqualification.

He gave out a total of Php 28,000.00 and in an interview, he clarified this. Justifying his actions, he believed he did not violate any rules, and as far as he is concerned, the incident happened before a person from the Uniteam arrived at the venue.

He argued that what he did cannot be called an election offense because Marcos and Duterte were not there at that time and should it be considered an offense if the presidential candidate, vice president, and senators were there. According to a report from Rappler, he told the interviewers, “My campaign starts on the 25th, walang Uniteam na kasama sa stage, therefore it was my event, not yet the Uniteam rally.”

Remulla is openly supporting BBM’s candidacy and previously, he vowed to deliver Marcos and Duterte 800,000 votes coming from his area alone.
