Coca-Cola, PepsiCo Companies Stand w/ Ukrainians in War Vs. Russia

COCA-COLA, PEPSICO – The two (2) soft drink giant companies announced that they are suspending their business in Russia.

The tension between Russia and Ukraine has led to a war between the two (2) countries. Several lives were lost amid the move of Moscow to invade the homeland of Ukrainians. It is taking global attention and many countries have expressed their stands over the issue.

Several nations expressed their support to Ukraine amid the invasion of Russia. The move of the Russian government elicited international condemnation and unexpected sanctions. Several businesses have announced that they are suspending their operations in Russia while it continuously attacks Ukraine.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, two (2) giant soft drink companies, Coca-Cola and PepsiCo, recently announced that they will be temporarily suspending their businesses in Russia.

According to the report, Coca-cola stressed that their hearts are with the people in Ukraine who are undergoing the unconscionable impacts of the “tragic events” due to the tension. PepsiCo announced that they are suspending the sale of Pepsi-Cola, 7Up, Mirinda, and their other global beverages in Russia amid the war.

Several other big companies including Apple have also announced the suspension of their businesses in Russia amid the Russian government invading Ukraine leading to the deaths of many people.

One of the issues between Russia and Ukraine is the latter’s pressing for NATO membership. The Russian government does not want its neighboring country to be a part of the transatlantic alliance which was made to defend Europe from the Soviet Union.

Ukrainian Pres. Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously said that they have accepted that NATO is not ready for Ukraine because of some issues. He announced openness to talk with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to discuss the issues between their countries but stressed that he won’t let Russia invade his country.
