The family of Leody de Guzman did not expect him to run for president
Leah and Dexter de Guzman shared the initial reaction of their family when their father Leody de Guzman told that he will run for president in the 2022 elections.
Following the presidential interviews that King of Talk Boy Abunda had on his YouTube channel, he interviewed the wives and children of the presidential candidates.
On March 7, the interview with Ka Leody’s children was released. One of the questions that was asked to them was about the reaction that they had when their father told them that he is running for the highest position in the government.
Leah and Dexter de Guzman said that initially they were shocked although there had been discussions last year that Ka Leody de Guzman might run for vice president. However, the labor leader would tease them, “paano kaya kung presidente?”
They were shocked when they knew from the news that their father filed his certificate of candidacy for president. “Sa family, nagulat kami and hindi kami sang-ayon sa simula,” Leah shared.
Because of that initial reaction, a family discussion happened as Ka Leody explained to them his reason for running and his aim for the country and the Filipino people. For Dexter, at that very day, he would not want his father to run for president.
However, after the explanation from their father, they understood why he decided to run for the highest government position in the Philippines. When asked about the reaction of their mother, the unica hija of Leody de Guzman said that it was not difficult for their mother to be convinced.
“Siya yung unang, ‘sige susuportahan ka namin, so, siya ‘yung pinakanakaintindi,” Leah shared the reaction of their mother. The hesitation coming from the family of Ka Leody was because of the fact that they are very private. They are not used to getting the attention of the public.
