Ogie Diaz talked about this aspect of his life
Comedian-talent manager Ogie Diaz shared through an incident, his children found out that he is gay.
Although Ogie is a member of the LGBT community, he has a wife and five children. In a recent interview on celebrity doctor Vicki Belo’s YouTube channel, he was asked how his children knew that he is gay.
Ogie said that he did not have that sort of serious conversation with their kids. The revelation happened when his children were fighting and that was the chance he had to tell them.
This happened when the kids were still in nursery school. One child said to the other, “sabihin mo na kay daddy” and the other one said, “ayoko baka magalit si daddy”. His eldest daughter Erin brought a photo of them to school for Father’s Day.
One of her classmates said, “Bakla naman niyang daddy mo eh” but she was contradicting this. Ogie asked his daughter if she got offended and she answered no. Then, the comedian-talent manager took this serious matter with a light approach. In jest, he said, “Oh next time ha, pag nag-insist pa sila na bakla daddy niyo, huwag kayo magagalit, sabi ko. Saka kayo magalit kapag sinabi ang daddy niyo tomboy.”
This made Vicki Belo laugh. He said that this was how he showed this real self to his gets and they understood it even though he did not directly say the words.
On the other hand, Ogie Diaz said that he was worried back then when he was attending the parents-teachers meeting. He was anticipating that some kids would tease him “bakla, bakla”. That possible scenario frightened him with the thought that this might affect his kids. Fortunately, that did not happen.
