Manny Pacquiao does not think Bongbong Marcos should win the presidency
Senator Manny Pacquiao said in a recent interview that his opponent former Senator Bongbong Marcos in the presidential race has no moral ascendancy to lead the Philippines.
Talking to media people, the Senator received a question about his fellow presidential bet. Based on the Twitter post of Inquirer reporter Chona Yu, Pacquiao answered “wala” when he was asked if BBM has the moral ascendancy to lead the country.
“Para sa akin ha, kasi kandidato rin ako masasabi ko na wala. Kalaban ko siya sa eleksyon na ito eh. Sa akin, wala,” he said. The Senator added that this will also depend on the people’s views.
“Alam na nila yun siguro. Matatalino naman ang taong bayan,” he said. The politician from Mindanao was asked again why Bongbong Marcos has no right to be the next president. Once again, he answered that it is because the former presidential son is his opponent in the same position.
The reporter insisted the lawmaker to give another reason aside from the previous one that he gave. Sen. Manny Pacquiao pointed out that Bongbong Marcos has corruption issues. “Alalahanin natin na kasali siya doon sa Napoles case,” he added.
This was not the first time that Pacquiao raised the corruption issue against BBM. During the presidential interview hosted by King of Talk Boy Abunda, the boxer-turned-politician was also asked why people should not vote for Marcos.
He said that the son of the late President Ferdinand Marcos has corruptions issues just like Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, who is also running for president. Previously, Pacquiao urged Marcos to attend debates so that the latter’s supporters will not feel ashamed.
