Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Clarified that 2-Joints Hand sign is Not Drug-Related
Presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno has clarified that his “2-joints” hand sign is not connected to illegal drugs.
After his two joints hand gesture went viral, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso remarked in a news conference at his town hall meeting in Nagtipunan, Quirino province, “don’t worry, it’s organic.” Moreno claims the symbol has nothing to do with illicit drugs and that the substance is forbidden under the law.
“It’s natural. We were in Cotabato [and someone shouts] ‘yorme, yorme, two joints’, syempre gusto ko naman maka-relate (of course I want to be able to relate) Then it went viral, because it’s organic. But it doesn’t mean we’re promoting illegal substance,” Moreno explained.

The presidential contender made it clear that he will not tolerate drug usage. When asked if he supported the legalization of Maryjane or marijuana, the mayor said no.
He warned that in the Philippines, the plant, which is utilized for medical purposes in other nations, may be abused. He stated that they must first address the system as a government and our thinking as citizens.
“Anything, someday, somehow, everything, that science will prove it, as long as makikinabang ‘yung kalusugan ng isang tao, ano mang uri ng gamot na pwedeng makatulong sa kanya, na manuhay siya, then so be it,” added Moreno.
The mayor claims that all he wants to do is connect with people and join the trend. The presidential contender went on to say that his now-viral hand symbol was unrelated to anyone.
“Being relatable to you, why not? You take the leadership, you’re trying to converse, you’re trying to reach people. You’re trying to make them feel that you understand them. Hindi ba ganon ang governance, lagi mong nauunawan ang nasasakupan mo,” the presidential candidate added
