Pres. Duterte Airs Worries over PH Drug Problem

DUTERTE – Philippine Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke on his hope for the next president of the country.

The May 2022 Election is fast approaching and the term of several national government officials is about to end. In the next few months, the Filipinos are set to elect the next president, vice president, and the new set of senators in the country.

Previously, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte expressed that he has started packing some of his things as he is ready to leave Malacañang. According to the Chief Executive, he is planning to leave the Palace early and just return in the last few weeks of his term to report for work.

The 76-year-old President did not endorse a candidate for the upcoming election. Furthermore, he promised that he will give the Filipino people a clean and fair election.

The Duterte administration focused on the war against drugs and the fight against corruption in the government. Those are the two most popular campaign promises of the former Davao City Mayor.

As his term is about to end, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Duterte is worried about drugs in the Philippines. He is hoping that the next president will continue his war against drugs even if it won’t have the same intensity as the fight under his governance.

“Maski lang sana yung a little lower than my standard kasi sisirain ang bayan na ito,” the President said.

Based on the report, Pres. Duterte also said that he is not worried over the attempt of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate his administration’s war against drugs in the country. Some presidential candidates revealed that they will allow the ICC to launch a probe in the country if they win in the upcoming election.

According to the President, the ICC does not worry him “a bit”. He stressed his hope that, if not the president, there would be someone to continue the fight against drugs.
