Nas Daily explains what happened with his deal with Whang-Od

Famous vlogger Nuseir Yassin, popularly known as Nas Daily, has broken his silence on the issue that occurred when he included “last” and oldest mambabatok Whang-Od.

As part of his Nas Academy, the vlogger made a deal with Whang-Od for her to share her knowledge in this old custom of her tribe. However, a grandniece of the famous mambabatok complained that the deal with Nas Academy was a scam.

Because of this, Nas received a massive amount of bashings on social media. Fortunately, his team reached out to Whang-Od and her tribe to patch things up. In a recent podcast of Filipino-American vlogger Wil Dasovich, he asked Nas Daily about this issue.

He clarified that there was never a conflict between him and Whang-Od. “It’s about the members of the tribe,” the vlogger said. Nas further explained that there was a family feud. Half of the family supported his collaboration with the traditional tattoo artist while the other half opposed this.

“So that’s where we end up with sort of problems because I think it’s just like an internal family dispute,” he said. The vlogger said that they wanted to stay away from that.

Nas said that they went there again and pointed out that they love the family, the tribe, the National Commission of Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and that they are working with these groups.

For Nas, the best controversies are the ones where people can learn something. With what happened, the vlogger said that Filipinos know more about indigenous rights as to how they have learned also about this. Now that everybody knows what the indigenous people do and what Nas Academy is doing, for Nas Daily, it can be a way that everybody can work together.
