Antique Residents Caught Tons of Moonfish After BFAR Imposes Stricter Fisheries Law

Antique residents are thankful after having a bountiful harvest of Moonfish as a result of the stricter fisheries law.

Over the last two years, the Philippines has undergone various community quarantine restrictions due to the rampant spread of the coronavirus disease. The government even declared state of calamity due to the pandemic.

The current government imposed stricter rules and regulations regulating the operations of various establishments to contain the spread of the virus. The restrictions regulate the movements and transactions of the residents.

Unfortunately, a lot of Filipino people lost their livelihoods and even suffered from the effects of the health crisis in the country. Different local government units distribute relief goods but they were not enough to fill empty stomachs.

Luckily, several citizens still manage to find an alternative way to get food and even nature pour out abundant harvest of fish in various provinces amid the pandemic.

Tons of moonfish or locally known as “Bilong-Bilong” have been harvested by the fisher folks of Tibiao, Antique. The residents immediately queued to get the fish they wanted from the bountiful harvest.

The residents are thankful for the massive harvest, which can be their meal for a couple of days. According to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the huge catch was due to the strict implementation of the fisheries law in Antique.

Aside from moonfish, there are lot of skipjack tuna, sardines, and tangigue have been caught.
