Boracay Island Population 100% Vaccinated against COVID-19
Boracay Island offers free booster shots for fully vaccinated foreign and local tourists who are eligible to be boosted.
Countries across the globe are in the pursuit to achieve herd immunity or population protection against the COVID-19 virus. Declared a pandemic, it cost millions of lives in different nations, shook healthcare systems, shut down businesses, and urged the people to live under a new normal setting.
In the Philippines, the vaccination program is ongoing and it is now open to the adult population. Different vaccine brands including Sinovac, Moderna, Pfizer, Janssen, AstraZeneca, and Sputnik V arrived in the country. Some were donated by other governments and entities while others were procured by the national government.
A lot of fully vaccinated adults have also received their booster shots. The healthcare workers and the senior citizens were the top priorities in the giving of the booster jabs. Meanwhile, it now covers a wide range of fully vaccinated adults.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Boracay Island which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Philippines now offers free COVID-19 booster shots to tourists. Both foreign and local tourists may get boosted against coronavirus during their stay in the island.
According to the report, Boracay Island’s population is 100% vaccinated against the COVID-19 thus tourist visit hesitancy was eased. Its free booster shots for tourists was announced by Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat during the launching of Resbakuna sa Botika and Resbakuna Kids.
Puyat expressed that around 1,000 tourists are expected to arrive in the Philippines until Friday after the country opened its borders to fully vaccinated foreign travelers. Boracay Island requires a negative RT-PCR test result and full COVID-19 vaccination to foreign travelers. Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez said that the island can serve as the role model for other tourist destinations.
