Manny Pacquiao on Comelec’s in-person campaign rules: ‘OA masyado’

Manny Pacquiao was asked to react to the guidelines of Comelec

Senator Manny Pacquiao, one of the presidential aspirants, said that the guidelines of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in conducting an in-person campaign are “OA (over-acting) masyado”.

Amid the pandemic, certain restrictions are being made for the election season. Comelec has already released the rules prohibiting certain activities in order to avoid the spread of the virus.

Based on the report from One News PH, Resolution No. 10732 of Comelec, handshakes, hugs, taking selfies or any other similar action that involves physical contact or is in close proximity are not allowed with the intention to prevent the spread of the virus. The giving of food and drinks and all other goods are strictly prohibited as well.

In a recent interview, Sen. Manny Pacquiao was asked to react to this. The presidential aspirant said that this is too much. “Parang hindi pinag-isipan ang mga guidelines na ibinaba ng Comelec,” he said. Pacquiao also questioned why giving of leaflets or t-shirt and taking selfies are also prohibited.

He said that Comelec should revise the guidelines. “Halatang nasa grade one,” he said adding that this is how he sees this. Pacquiao also told Comelec to review its guidelines.

Meanwhile, in an interview on King of Talk Boy Abunda’s YouTube Channel, Sen. Manny Pacquiao said that he believes that the courage of Filipinos can beat China. This is in line with the persistent issue in the West Philippine Sea/South China Sea.

When asked if the Philippines can fight in a war against China, the presidential aspirant even cited a line from the Philippine National Anthem Lupang Hinirang.
