Enchong Dee received support from fellow Kapamilya stars
Actor Enchong Dee released a statement on the cyber libel case filed against him by DUMPER Representative Claudine Bautista-Lim.
Last year, it was reported that the congresswoman decided to file a complaint against the actor despite that the latter already issued a public apology for the Twitter post that he shared against the “lavish” wedding of the former.
The prosecutors found the tweet of Enchong malicious as he accused Bautista-Lim of using the funds for drivers for her wedding. With this, the party-list representative is asking the court to order the actor to pay P1 billion (P500,000,000 for moral damages and P500,000,000 for exemplary damages.
When reports surfaced that the court has already issued a warrant of arrest against Enchong Dee, it was alleged that he is hiding. On the afternoon of January 31, it was reported that the actor surrendered to the authorities. However, he was not detained because he posted bail on Monday night.
On February 1, the actor released a statement on this issue through his legal counsel, Castillo Laman Tan Pantaleon & San Jose Law Firm. He shared the statement on his Instagram account.
The actor debunked the allegations that he was nowhere to be found when authorities were supposed to serve the warrant of arrest. “Contrary to certain media reports, Enchong Dee has been attending to his professional and personal commitments in the past couple of days and has not made any attempt to evade arrest,” his legal counsel stated.
The statement also stressed that the actor will take “appropriate and necessary legal steps to defend himself.” Enchong Dee this post with this caption: “Gong Xi Fa Cai (red, green, blue heart emojis)” This means “wishing you enlarge your wealth.”
Several Kapamilya stars showed support for Enchong in the comment section such as Angel Locsin, Erich Gonzales, Ria Atayde, and Cherry Pie Picache.
