Guanzon stressed that she believes there is moral turpitude. She also aired her belief that there is allegedly a political interference in the issues citing the delay in the release of the resolution. According to her, they have agreed to release it by January 17.

The political party of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos reacted to the statement of Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon. Its general counsel, George Briones, said that they want her investigated and her retirement benefits and lifetime pension forfeited.

Guanzon responded to the statement of the PFP General Counsel which contained negative tags towards her. She challenged George Briones to a debate – to which the official of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos’ party initially accepted.

The Comelec Commissioner further raised a question if the presidential aspirant knows what his party is doing. According to her, being the presiding commissioner handling the consolidated cases against him, he could charge them all for contempt and send them to jail.

Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon also reminded George Briones that she is her Deltan sister. A few hours after he initially accepted her challenge to a debate, the legal counsel of Marcos’ party backed out. Based on a report on GMA News, he cited their Code of Action.

“For I firmly believe in our Code of Action which is ‘to give due respect if not love to a Sister Deltan,” Briones said.

Currently, the decision on the consolidated petitions seeking the disqualification of the PFP standard-bearer is not yet out. On the call of the party for the forfeiture of her retirement benefits, Guanzon expressed that she is willing to be in poverty for fighting the wrongdoings.
