Marcos’ Party Wants Guanzon Disbarred, Her Retirement Benefits Forfeited

Party of Marcos Jr. Reacts to Comelec Commission Guanzon Revealing her Stand

MARCOS – Partido Federal ng Pilipinas wants Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon disbarred and her retirement benefit forfeited.

Several petitions seeking the disqualification of the presidential bid of former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. were filed before the Commission on Elections (Comelec). Some of the petitions cited the tax evasion conviction of the former Senator.

Some of the petitions have already been junked but the decision on the three (3) consolidated petitions has not been released. It is handled by the three-member division which includes Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon.

Recently, Guanzon spoke regarding the decision on the consolidated petitions against Macros Jr. She revealed that they agreed that it will be released by January 17 and she believes there is a political interference why there was no resolution until now.

The party of Marcos Jr., Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, reacted to the issue. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, they wanted Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon disbarred and her retirement benefits and monthly pension forfeited.

George Briones, the general counsel of the political party of Marcos Jr., claimed that Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon “destroyed the reputation of the institution” where her retirement benefits and monthly pension would come from by her premature disclosure of “her unpromulgated dissenting opinion”.

Briones also urged the poll body to probe Guanzon for an alleged violation of Code of Judicial Conduct. He also accused the Commissioner of siding with the presidential rival of Marcos Jr., Vice Pres. Leni Robredo.
