Bongbong Marcos: Priests Encourage Voters Not To Vote For Ex-Senator

The presidential candidacy of Bongbong Marcos is not getting the support from Catholic priests

Priests from the Catholic religion are encouraging the voters not to vote for former Senator Bongbong Marcos, one of the presidential aspirants in the 2022 elections.

Surveys showed that the son of former President Ferdinand Marcos is leading with over 50 percent. However, his critics are not threatened by this number as they are also campaigning against him.

In a report posted on the Twitter account of News5, it was stated that Catholic priests are campaigning against Bongbong Marcos. Leaders of the Catholic Church urged voters to vote wisely and do not choose someone like President Rodrigo Duterte who they tagged as a violator of human rights.

Bro. Armin Luistro said that Marcos is a liar because the former Senator and his family haven’t admitted the supposed abusive acts of Ferdinand Marcos and they did not apologize for these until now. The priests also claimed that there are extrajudicial killings that happened in Duterte’s war on drugs campaign.

The religious leaders said that from the time Duterte resumed the presidency, not less than 33 people died every day because of the war on drugs. They also stressed that it is prohibited by the Bible for someone to kill another person and it is wrong to support someone who kills.

Fr. Flavie Villanueva said that Bongbong Marcos should not be the choice of voters. He claimed that the former Senator will just cover up the supposed wrongdoing of the Duterte administration.

Luistro added that voters should vote for Vice President Leni Robredo. The religious leader said that the only woman in the presidential race this year is “makatao, tapat, at mabuting lider ng bansa.”
