Businessman Manny Villar has now been granted to own the former channel 2 frequency of the ABS-CBN network.
According to a rumor, billionaire Manny Villar’s media business, Advanced Media Broadcasting System Inc, has purchased two ABS-CBN Corp frequencies. According to the publication, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has granted the corporation preliminary license to utilize two well-known frequencies. Villar’s firm has the authority to construct equipment such as a tower transmitter in order to begin the broadcast test on Channels 2 and 16.
The Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBC) will begin broadcasting at 7:00 a.m. till 10 p.m. with permission for test broadcast at Villar’s Starmall skyscraper in Mandaluyong City Advanced Media was also granted provisional authorisation by the NTC for a digital TV broadcasting system utilizing a frequency previously held by ABS-CBN.
It should be remembered that ABS-CBN lost its free TV broadcast on May 5, 2020, due to a cease and desist order issued by the NTC when their license to operate expired. ABS-CBN responded to a number of complaints in Congress two months after it went off the air, but the business was unable to get another 25-year franchise.
The House Committee on Legislative Franchises voted 70-10 to deny the company’s request for another franchise. ABS-BN’s issuance of Philippine depositary receipts (PDRs) to foreign investors, dual citizenship of ABS-CBN chair emeritus Gabby Lopez, TV Plus Box, KBO pay-per-view, and other problems were examined before Congress.
