Chavit Singson Happy with the Support of CamSur Mayors to Marcos Jr

Chavit Singson Announce CamSur Mayors Support Marcos Jr

Narvacan Mayor Luis “Chavit” Singson proudly announced the Camarines Sur (CamSur) Mayors are supporting Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) and the mayor of Narvacan declared they are open to any support for Marcos Jr.’s presidential run from the mayors of Camarines Sur. Camarines Sur is recognized as the home of Vice President Leni Robredo, who is also a presidential candidate in the 2022 elections.

Marcos’ campaign reported at least 11 mayors had indicated support for Marcos’ presidential ambition during a private meeting in Camarines Sur on January 17. According to Singson, who was also there at the meeting, the mayors were aware that BBM was present but did not force them to come.

However, several mayors in Camarines Sur have said that they do not support Marcos’ candidacy. However, Singsong acknowledged that it is a political world, and that some people support Marcos while others do not.

“Ganyan ang politics, and it is okay if some mayors denied their support for BBM since there are others in favoring Marcos’s presidential bid,” Singson said in an interview with ABS-CBN.

However, he stated that he was pleased if the nine mayors continued to support Marcos’ campaign because there was no group heading Marcos’ campaign in the province at the time. Meanwhile, the two mayors of Camarines Sur towns have refuted Marcos Jr.’s camp’s assertion that they support the presidential candidate.

Mayors of Pamplona and Milaor, Ronaldo “Boy” Franco and Anthony Reyes, have said that they remain supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo, a fellow Bicolano. After the Marcos camp published a press statement repeating Singson’s assertion, the two clarified their positions.

Although Franco and Reyes acknowledged to attending the meeting, this did not necessarily imply that they supported the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos’ son. Franco and Reyes stated that they decided to attend the meeting on Monday out of respect for Singson, who had invited them.
