How did Boy Abunda come up with his presidential interviews?
King of Talk Boy Abunda shared the story behind his presidential interviews for the 2022 elections.
The reputation of Tito Boy in conducting interviews is something that his audience in many years has treasured. His track record in his career can attest to how credible he is in this field.
For this year’s election, the seasoned TV host is also conducting presidential interviews and this will be shown on his YouTube channel as well as on the Kapamilya Channel.
Prior to the scheduled release of the interviews, Boy Abunda shared a video on YouTube talking about how he came up with his plan to interview the presidential aspirants.
He said that it was on September 21 when this idea came to him but he had no idea how to do this. This came from his fascination with the presidential debates in the U.S.
Last year, he had a birthday dinner with his friends and one of them asked him if he is interested to be a moderator in a debate. Hee thought that it is a “daunting job” and he will just leave this to journalists. He stressed that he never posed as a “journalist” because he is an “interviewer”.
Despite this, it was still lingering in his mind that he wants to do the 2022 presidential interviews. Because of this, he decided to call his team and raised this possibility.
During the New Year’s Eve dinner, Boy Abunda once again opened up about his desire to interview the presidential candidates to his friends. He knew that his desire to do this comes with things that he needs to make it possible like a production team, creative team, and equipment.
His conversations with her friends were heard by his sister Congresswoman Maria Fe Romerica Abunda who said that she can help but he has to make sure that this is something that she really can do. With that, Tito Boy asked someone from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and an election lawyer if his sister who is a representative can help him with this.
Aside from his sister, Boy Abunda also thanked his friends who never had second thoughts on helping him in this project, from food, venue, to swab testing kits. He also mentioned his boss in ABS-CBN Cory Vidanes who helped him with the air time. “Everything fell into the right place,” Boy Abunda said.
