CamNor Traffic Police Earned Praise after Helping a Woman who Gave Birth
A Traffic Patrol Police earned praises after he allegedly helped a pregnant who didn’t reach the hospital and gave birth in Camarines Norte.
In the municipality of San Vicente, a 34-year-old police officer was lauded for saving a lady who gave birth inside a rescue van. Cpl. Leo John Samonte, who is also a trained nurse, was recognized by the police.

When the van carrying the pregnant woman arrived, he explained they were escorting some fellow cops for the COVID-19 immunization at the Rural Health Unit. The woman was not brought to the municipal birthing center because the route was reportedly clogged.
PCPL Samonte, a 9-year veteran of the military, claimed she was already in labor when he saw the medical team required assistance. He just happened to be a nurse, so he volunteered to assist with the child’s discharge.
The lady from Bgy did an excellent job of delivering the baby. San Vicente Cabanbanan. The San Vicente MPS head acknowledged Samonte and informed him that the police are always ready to assist him, particularly in times of crisis or calamity.
PCPT Danilo Ignacio Cosme, Jr. commends Samonte for his good actions and willingness to assist others in need. Samonte originally worked as team head of the Camarines Norte Police Provincial Office’s police-nurse group, caring for some patients in COVID-19, before joining the Traffic Patrol Police Non-Commissioned Officer of the San Vicente municipal police station.
