Wife and Child Died after Alleged Drunk Rookie Cop Shot to Death in Catanduanes
A rookie cop who was allegedly intoxicated with alcohol shot his wife along with his child to death in their home in Catanduanes.
In Virac, Catanduanes, a rookie cop shot and murdered his wife. He shot himself to death after murdering his wife. After the bullet pierced his torso, it also struck their three-year-old kid, killing him.
According to the story, a police complaint was sent to Camp Crame in Quezon City following the event, where it was claimed that Patrolman Jaymas Malasa committed himself after understanding what he had done. Malasa is a member of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company of Catanduanes.
According to the allegation, it all started when Malasa returned home intoxicated on Saturday, January 15 and the pair got into an altercation. When the suspect pulled out his service weapon and shot his wife, the heated exchange turned bloody.
According to the report, the bullet penetrated the wife’s torso and struck the infant with the same round. The police officer then shot himself, killing him instantly, according to the report.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) head, Gen. Dionardo Carlos, encouraged police officers to be cautious when handling their firearms. We are very saddened by the loss of life. We are heartbroken to learn of the circumstances.
“May this serve as a lesson for our police officers to take precautions and never put the law into their hands. You underwent gun safety training. Use all the learning to effectively and responsibly discharge your duty,” Carlos said.
