Mayor Isko Moreno Warns Anti-Vaxxers Holding Rallies in Manila to Face Charges
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso has warned the anti-vaxxers holding rallies against vaccination in the city to face charges.
On Thursday, January 13, Yorme issued a warning that anybody who participates in anti-vaccine protests in the city will face the full force of the law. Domagoso announced on Tuesday, January 11 that criminal charges had been filed against four persons who took part in a “No to Vaccination” event in Manila’s Liwasang Bonifacio.
“Basta kami uunawain ko kayo, hahabaan ko ang kamay ko, hahabaan namin ang pag-unawa, pero darating at darating sa punto ng buhay mamimili tayo sa itim at puti because we are always certain about our laws. Huwag kayo susubok sa Maynila, o kita mo sumubok kahapon ano ang napala?,” said Domagoso.

Those apprehended, according to Domagoso, are being held at the Manila Police District (MPD) headquarters. To avoid being charged with jail, the Manila Mayor encouraged residents to focus solely on immunization and following instructions.
“Basta andun lahat [sila] sa MPD, pwede nyo na bisitahin. Di ko na sila iniintindi basta tayo focus tayo sa bakunahan. Rally ka, goyo ka. Police matter ‘yan eh. Basta importante sinusunod nila ang tagubilin natin. Walang mangugulo sa Maynila,” he said.
The mayor emphasized that anyone breaking the law in the city will be prosecuted promptly. Domagoso continued to urge individuals who have not been vaccinated to be vaccinated in order to be protected from the virus.
“Pero kung kinakailangan proteksyunan natin ang higit na nakararami sa ating kababayan na nagdesisyon, nagmalasakit sa sarili, at tumugon sa pamahalaan, at nakiisa sa pamayanan na nagpabakuna, then I think its high-time to police those who are unvaccinated, to regulate their movement, to protect others. This is about protection of your family, of your neighbors, of our community, of our city and our country,” he warned.
