Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto Lashes Vice Mayor Over “Pamumulitika”

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto Slams Vice Mayor for “Pamumulitika” and Not Fulfilling His Job

Mayor of Pasig City Vico Sotto has slammed his Vice Mayor over his “pamumulitika” and not fulfilling his job as a public servant.

Mayor Vico scolds his Vice Mayor for allegedly failing to carry out his sworn duties as a local official. Mayor Vico claimed he was obliged to expose his feelings towards Vice Mayor Iyo Bernardo to the public during his address at the flag ceremony since he did not respond to his calls and SMS.

Bernardo’s Facebook post in recent days has included some complaints of the city’s alleged sloppy tendency. This is a video collection of the Pasiguenos’ purported grievances against the present administration.

“Sana bago tayo mag-usap tungkol sa pulitika, bago tayo mamulitika, magtrabaho muna tayo…tuloy-tuloy po sana tayo sa trabaho natin,” said the 32-year-old mayor.

“Kung nakakausap ko lang po si Vice Iyo, kung sumasagot ba naman sana sa mga tawag at text ko, eh di sana, hindi ko kailangan sabihin in public. Pero wala naman po akong choice kasi hindi naman po sumasagot sa akin,” he added.

Mayor Vico also stated that criticizing the government is perfectly OK and that he accepts it. The mayor also contrasted his administration to the previous one, in which citizens were scared to criticize or complain about the government.

“Si Vice Mayor Iyo hindi naman nagsalita ‘yan ng ilang years. Six years na vice mayor hindi nagsalita ng hindi maganda ‘yan,” said the mayor.

Mayor Vico reiterated that there is nothing wrong with criticizing, but that they must first function as the people’s elected leaders. Mayor Vico allegedly stated Bernardo failed to attend the formal turnover of the city’s 2022 budget legislation and also did not join the City Development Council, where he still sits as a panel member, according to an ABS-CBN News report.

He allegedly contacted the deputy mayor three or four times, asking him to bring the 2022 budget to Bernardo as a courtesy, but he never received a response. Sotto’s opponent in the 2018 election will be Bernardo, who is seeking re-election to his second term as mayor of Pasig City.
