LTO Issues Announcement on Driver’s Licenses that will Expire on January-March

LTO – The Land Transportation Office is extending the validity of the driver’s licenses that are set to expire between January-March 2022.

The government body that issues licenses to individuals that are qualified to drive in the Philippines is the Land Transportation Office. Its main office is in Quezon City and it has several branches nationwide. It is one of the busiest government agencies daily.

More commonly called LTO, it is also that body that is in charge of vehicle registrations and traffic protocols. It deploys some of its employees in certain areas to check if rules are implemented by the motorists.

Motorists are responsible for renewing the validity of their driver’s license once it reaches its expiry. Previously, driver’s licenses are valid for three (3) years but it has already been changed with 10-year validity.

LTO Drivers License

Amid the strict protocols now due to a more intense fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the Philippines, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) is extending the validity of some licenses that are set to expire between January to March 2022.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, an additional fo two (2) months is applied on the validity of the LTO driver’s licenses that are set to expire between January to March 2022. The following are detailed adjustments:

  • January 2022 – Extended until March 31, 2022
  • February 2022 – Extended until April 30 2022
  • March 2022 – Extended until May 31, 2022

The extension of the driver’s licenses’ validity came amid the closure of the Central Office and several offices for disinfection and for the quarantine of the COVID-19 positive employees of the government body and those they had contact with.

The LTO NCR East, the Regional Office, the Diliman District Office, the Quezon City Licensing Office, the Quezon City Licensing Renewal Office, the North Motor Vehicle Inspection Center, and the PUV Vehicle Registration are temporarily closed today until January 14.
