Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez revealed in her recent social media post the role of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray in her life.
Beatrice is indeed enjoying her reign and her performance on the international pageant stage made Filipino pageant fans very proud. Just like many beauty queens, the Cebuana beauty also joined pageants in the past before getting the national title.
Based on the article in Inquirer, Beatrice joined Miss Mandaue in 2015 and she placed second runner-up. Though she did not succeed at that time, she found her inspiration to continue her pageant journey.
In her post on her Instagram Story on January 6, Beatrice Luigi Gomez shared a throwback photo with Catriona Gray. The Cebuana beauty greeted the Filipina-Australian beauty queen for her birthday.
Then, Beatrice revealed that Catriona was her inspiration in joining pageants again. “Happy birthday Queen! I remember the day you won Miss Universe 2018, I don’t really watch pageants but I watched your performance and I was in tears as people screamed when they announced you as the winner,” she said.
With that iconic win of Catriona that brought the fourth Miss Universe crown for the Philippines, Beatrice felt the urge to be on a pageant once more. “I had a random thought of wanting to join pageants again,” the Cebuana beauty shared.
“[By January] of 2020, I was crowned as the winner and you were there. I never really thought I’d be joining a prestigious national pageant such as [Miss Universe Philippines] and eventually represent the country at [Miss Universe] like you did,” Beatrice Luigi Gomez said.
Meanwhile, Beatrice shared in a previous interview after the Miss Universe pageant that the representative from Ghana boosted her confidence when she was losing it during the pageant because of her insecurities.
