DTI Reveals Truth Behind Tight Supply of Paracetamol Brands
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has finally revealed the reason behind the tight supply of Paracetamol brands.
Over the past few days, the outage of Paracetamol brands such as Biogesic, Decolgen, Bioflu, Decolgen, Neozep, Symdex, Tuseran, Solmux and other medicines became one of the most trending topics online.
A lot of people were currently suffering from common diseases after the holiday season. It happens after the COVID-19 Omicron variant has entered the Philippines. Some people have visited various drug stores but Paracetamol brands were still not available.
The Department of Health is also open to set a cap for paracetamol purchase per customer amid the coronavirus pandemic. Quezon City has already released an ordinance against panic buying.
“Oo naman, gagawin natin ‘yun [pagtatakda ng limitasyon kontra-panic buying],” ani Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said.
DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez clarified that there is no shortage of paracetamol in the country. However, he admitted that is tight supply paracetamol and analgesic brands due to delivery issues but generic products were available in the market.
“There might be a temporary tight supply for some brands. But it is due to timing of deliveries to replenish the stocks in the branches of these drugstores, There are other brands of paracetamol in the market so there is no shortage,”” Lopez said.
Lopez also told the public to avoid panic buying and assured the public that there should be no problem in prices of paracetamol.
