Baguio City Restrictions for Leisure Tourists

BAGUIO CITY – The local government set a limit anew on the entry of leisure tourists in the city amid the cold weather.

Amid the increasing cases of COVID-19 in several areas in the Philippines, some local government units have tightened the measures implemented in their cities anew to fight the spread of the virus. An upward trend of the cases is expected following the holiday season and the current count urged the authorities to place the National Capital Region (NCR) under the Alert Level 3.

One of the cities that is implementing changes on its restrictions to fight the spread of COVID-19 is Baguio City. Tagged as the Summer Capital of the Philippines, many people are visiting the city most especially in December and January because of its cold weather. Both local and foreign tourists are visiting the city.

Many people prefer to have their holiday vacation in Baguio. The cold weather of the place really adds to making it a perfect venue for relaxation but, currently, there are restrictions amid the pandemic.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Baguio City once again set a limit on the entry of leisure tourists into the city. Only those tourists who have already received the QR-coded Tourist Pass or OTP will be allowed entry to the city.

According to Baguio Information Office, they did not anymore approve the new leisure travel requests in their official website, Baguio Visita. Those people who are just planning to enter the city for leisure travel will temporarily not be allowed.

Meanwhile, the Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APORs) and the official trips will be allowed to enter the city provided that they have registered in the website of the city. The LGU has previously warned the individuals who are planning to visit the city without sufficient requirements not to push through with it as they will really not be allowed to enter the city.
