The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has released the holiday pay rules for December 30, 2021 (Rizal Holiday).

Previously, the Labor and Employment Department has released Labor Advisory No. 23, series of 2021 reminding the employers regarding the proper pay rules to the employees who will report to work during the holiday.

The labor advisory declares December 25 and December 30 as regular holidays. Filipino people commemorates national hero Jose Rizal’s martyrdom every December 30. Employers should pay the proper compensation for the workers.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III also reminded the employers to provide the rightful wages and benefits for their employees amid the coronavirus pandemic. “We remind companies and establishments in the private sector to observe the proper payment of wages to their workers this month, It’s the duty of employers to provide the rightful wages and benefits entitled to their workers so that they can truly enjoy the spirit of Christmas with their families amid the pandemic,” Bello said. Here are the pay rules for Rizal Day: • Workers who will not report to work shall be paid 100 percent of its salary during that day. • Employees who will report to work during the holiday are entitled to receive 200 percent of its daily wage for the first eight hours. • Laborers working overtime shall receive an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate during the holiday. • If the regular holiday falls on worker’s rest day he/she shall receive an additional 30 percent of its basic wage of 200 percent • Overtime work during a regular holiday, which falls on employee’s rest day, he/she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate on holiday. Holiday Pay Rules

Here are the pay rules for Rizal Day:

  • Workers who will not report to work shall be paid 100 percent of its salary during that day.
  • Employees who will report to work during the holiday are entitled to receive 200 percent of its daily wage for the first eight hours.
  • Laborers working overtime shall receive an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate during the holiday.
  • If the regular holiday falls on worker’s rest day he/she shall receive an additional 30 percent of its basic wage of 200 percent
  • Overtime work during a regular holiday, which falls on employee’s rest day, he/she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate on holiday.
