Vice Pres. Robredo Distributes Relief Goods in Bais City, Negros Oriental

ROBREDO – Vice President Leni Robredo visited the survivors of Typhoon Odette in Bais City, Negros Occidental.

In the Philippines, Typhoon Odette or internationally called Rai severely hit several areas causing massive flooding, property destructions, and the loss of lives. Several cities were submerged in floodwater due to the heavy rains brought by the typhoon.

Preparations were done prior to the entry of Typhoon Odette in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The forecasts also urged preemptive evacuations in flood-prone areas. However, tagged as one of the strongest typhoons that have hit the country, has its own strength that caused devastation in several areas in the country.

The provinces of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental are currently under the State of Calamity following the onslaught of Typhoon Odette. Kabankalan City and Sipalay City in Negros Occidental were submerged in floodwater.

In Bais City in Negros Oriental, a lot of people lost their homes to the strong winds and falling trees. Many are in need of help.

Recently, Vice President Leni Robredo visited Bais City, Negros Oriental. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President distributed relief goods to the survivors of Typhoon Odette in Bais.

According to the report, the residents in Bais City were emotional as they ask for help four (4) days after the wrath of Typhoon Odette. The Vice President specifically visited Sitio Tampakan in Barangay Uno.

Vice Pres. Robredo also visited Kabankalan City that was submerged in floodwater. Actress Kris Aquino and her fiance, former Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mel Sarmiento, joined her in the relief operations in Kabankalan City.

The Vice President has also previously visited Bohol and other Odette-hit areas in the country. She is calling to the public to extend help to the survivors of the typhoon.
