Joed Serrano Withdraws Senatorial Candidacy: “Ayoko maging mambobola”

Joed Serrano Withdraws Candidacy for Senatorial Race in 2022 Elections

JOED SERRANO – Actor and producer has withdrawn his candidacy for the senatorial race in the upcoming May 2022 elections.

Joed claims that he is withdrawing his candidacy because he is unable to raise the requisite campaign budget of P800 million for his candidacy. His campaign aspires to be a voice for the LGBTQIA+ community’s well-being.

I will just continue to be a happy person & to be happy for all!”

Joed was one of the showbiz personalities that submitted their Certificate of Candidacy (COC) to the Comelec in October. In his acceptance speech, he stated that he was running “to pay attention to, value, and promote the equality” of his fellow members.

And I guess, I’ll be the first aspirant candidate to be very vocal na ako po ay isang bakla,” he said.

He further emphasized that several politicians, including presidential candidate Manny Pacquiao, have referred to their group as “worse than animals.” Joed stated that he is withdrawing from the race because he does not want to deceive his fellow LGBT members, similar to other politicians who are fresh mouthed during the campaign but fail in office.

Because of the high cost of campaigning, Joed knew that running without a party would be tough. This does not, however, imply that he will cease to serve in the public sector, particularly for the benefit of the LGBTQIA+ community. He still believes that one day, when he has enough money, he will be able to continue his full involvement in politics.
