Family Found Venomous Snake Hiding In Christmas Tree
VENOMOUS SNAKE FOUND – Instead of gifts, a family found a venomous snake lurking inside their Christmas tree.
According to Rob and Marcela, the snake lurked in the Christmas Tree’s branches. Immediately, the couple called professionals after finding out that the snake was one of the most venomous snakes in the world.
Based on an article from WDSU, authorities identified the snake as a “boomslang”, one of Africa’s deadliest. “I thought ‘holy Moses, this is the king of all poisonous snakes“, said Rob.
Luckily, the family’s pet cats warned them of the snake’s presence. “The cats were peering into the tree and my wife said ‘there’s probably a mouse in there somewhere“, he added.
Rob was a British stock market trader that moved with his Costa Rican wife to South Africa 18 years ago. However, this was the first instance of them having a home visit from wildlife.
As per the article, snake Cather Gerrie Heyns confirmed that the species they caught inside the tree was in fact, a boomslang. Furthermore, he identified the snake as a female between 4.3 to 4.9 feet.
Upon recognizing that the snake was inside the tree, Heyns instructed the family to step away. It took two hours for Heyns to reach the house and the snake never got down from the tree.
Thankfully, once the snake expert arrived, it was easily handled. As such, instead of being terrified, the children were actually excited.
Still, Heyns emphasized that snakes rarely bite. However, with a saddened tone, he said that the creatures have “been demonized so much”.
