PRO1 to Dismiss Police Who Will Be Caught Soliciting for Holiday Events

Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) will dismiss police officials who will be caught soliciting money for the funds of their holiday activities.

P/Brig, PRO1 director General Emmanuel Peralta has warned police officers that if they solicit this Christmas season, they may lose their jobs and be administratively punished. The provinces of Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, and La Union make up Region 1.

Peralta claims that he forbids all of his officers and staff from receiving solicitation letters or accepting gifts, especially from illegal activities. He stated that any police officer soliciting private individuals and institutions, notably businesses, for raffles and other prizes for the Christmas and New Year celebrations is against PRO1 policy.

Peralta stated that officers who are reported will be stripped of their duties immediately and will face criminal and administrative punishments. Peralta also cited Memorandum Circular 91-010 of the National Police Commission, which prohibits police officers from soliciting.

“Police personnel who will be reported will be immediately relieved from their assignment and will face criminal and administrative sanctions in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 46 and NAPOLCOM Memorandum Circular No. 91-010 on the Prohibition against Solicitation Activities of Members of the Philippine National Police,” the Director said.

According to the source, he has already issued a memorandum instructing all provincial directors and chiefs of police to advise their subordinates not to solicit. He went on to say that this involves fund-raising activities.
