NBI Arrested BIR Supervisor in Las Piñas for Extortion from Businessman

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a supervisor from the Bureau of Internal Revenues (BIR) for extortion from a businessman.

The arrest was prompted after a complainant went to the NBI office and reported the illegal act of Marco. NBI said, the victim reported that Marco allegedly demanded P1,500,000 cash in exchange for stopping the investigation by the suspect’s group to their records.

Despite the fact that the victim had already given the appropriate documentation, the suspect insisted on making the demand, according to the victim. The P500,000 will go to tax payable to be paid directly to Landbank, according to Kristine Dela Cruz, executive officer of the NBI Special Action Unit (SAU).

As a result, he claimed, the P1 million will go to those he spoke with at the BIR office in Las Pias. As a result, the legal department will be paid P50,000 to withdraw the lawsuit, and there will be no investigation.

The suspect is already in the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation. Authorities seized P1,550,000 in cash and a cellphone that included information on her dealings with the complainant. The suspect is now charged with robbery- extortion and violating Republic Acts 8424 (Tax Reform Act of 1997), 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials), 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act), and 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials).
