Bank Customers Express Frustration After Losing Cash on Their Account Due to Fraud
Several bank customers have expressed their disappointment after losing cash on the account over unauthorized cash withdrawal.
The bank companies have warned the public to be more cautious and vigilant of their accounts during online banking to avoid losing cash. Numerous customers filed complaint after losing money over unauthorized cash withdrawal from their bank accounts.
A BDO account holder named Eugenio Deocareza has lost P150, 000 from his bank account within three days. The suspect identified as Mark Nagoyo reportedly withdraw P50, 000 per day within three days from Deocareza’s account.
Deocareza expressed his frustration after the security features of the bank has been neglected. He has been very careful with his password and never click suspicious website. The victim just wanted to recover his money especially this upcoming Christmas.
“Nakakapanlumo ang hirap kitain ngayon lalo na pandemic, kahit na sabihin natin nag nenegosyo ka o maganda ang trabaho mo magpapasko e, ang tanong ko ngayon e, hanggang kalian nila ihohold o ibabalik ang pera kung sakaling maibabalik,” Deocareza said.
The Central Bank of the Philippines is currently monitoring the increase of complaints posted online. They are already coordinating with BDO and UBP to ensure that remedial measures are being undertaken. They are already working for reimbursement of affected customers.
Meanwhile, BDO Unibank, INC. has released a statement regarding the incident:
“We are aware of a sophisticated fraud technique that has affected some of our clients. We assure you that we have already implemented additional security controls to block further attempts and continue to protect bank credentials”
Bank account holders are also instructed to change their passwords to prevent being hacked.
