Several LGUs Declare Class & Work Suspensions Due to Shear Line

WALANG PASOK – Several local government units have declared class and work suspensions due to the shear line.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported that the shear line will continue to bring an inclement weather condition over some parts of the country.

The shear line will be affecting eastern section of Visayas and would bring moderate to heavy rains while Northeast Monsoon will be affecting Luzon.

Class & Work Suspensions

On Thursday (December 9, 2021), Mayor Alfred Romualdez has declared the suspension of classes and government work in Tacloban City due to the inclement weather condition brought by the shear line. The town is experiencing incessant rains.

“Kasalukuyan ano, malakas na malakas ang ulan, it’s been more than 12 hours na walang tigil itong ulan dito sa Tacloban, kaya we temporarily suspended ‘yung pabakuna muna dahil masyadong malakas ‘yung ulan ano and suspended work also at saka ibang klase dito,” Romualdez said.

Romualdez said that the local government us already monitoring the areas prone to flashfloods and landslides. The city is expecting a rise in water level in a couple of hours due to the non-stop rain. The vaccination program has been also suspended due to the inclement weather condition.

“We are preparing para sa mga landslide areas, itong mga flooding dito, so pinaghahandaan namin yan but right now we feel na ang recommendation ng (City Disaster Risk Management) is to suspend first the work and itong pabakuna.” Romualdez added.

The cancellation of government work and classes have been announced due to possible power interruption and signal outage amid the inclement weather.
