Jake Cuenca talked about his role in a new Kapamilya series
Kapamilya actor Jake Cuenca shared his thoughts on repeatedly being given “mayabang” roles in teleseryes.
Jake has already portrayed several strong characters onscreen and because of this, it is inevitable that some people would always anticipate that he will keep on doing these kinds of roles. For his new series Viral Scandal, he is playing the character of Mayor Troy Ramones.
The actor said that although his character “aesthetically looks mayabang or pompous”, he stressed that there is something more to it. “The plots are so surprising, with the script our mind was blown. This role is not the stereotypical bad politician role,” Jake Cuenca shared about his character.
He also said that he is not afraid to be typecast to roles that are “mayabang” because he is making sure that he would present the “complete transformation” with every role he does.
“Whether it be physically or mentally. I try to make every role different and even if something was similar, I would do my homework and still try to make it different even if it was an arrogant bad guy type of role. That’s the beauty of being an actor, we’re portraying people eh,” the actor explained.
In order to portray his characters the best that he can, he would dissect them. Jake understands that every person is different from the other and although some may do the same things there would always be differences when it comes to circumstances and justification.
This is how Jake Cuenca approaches his character, he would understand his role from a perspective of a person and so with this, he is able to make his character three-dimensional.
