Will this be the end of the political career of Isko Moreno?
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, who is running for president in the 2022 elections, said that he will bid goodbye from politics if he will not win the presidential race next year.
Following his showbiz career, Moreno spent several years as a public servant. For next year, he is aiming for the highest position in the Philippine government. Previously, veteran showbiz personality Lolit Solis told Mayor Isko that it is early for him to run for president.
The presidential aspirant said that he believes that timing is not a factor to be considered in this aspect. For him, it should be the drive of the politician to serve.
In an interview on Friday, December 3, based on the report from Inquirer, Mayor Isko Moreno said that he will quit politics if he fails to get her highest number of votes in the presidential election. He likened this decision to a breakup.
“Tapos na ang buhay, move on. Para ka lang syota ‘yan, nagkahiwalay kayo, move forward. Pahinga na rin,” the presidential aspirant said. He added that he will no longer seek a local position in the capital city of the country.
For the Mayor, it is the right time that he is offering himself to serve the Filipino people while he still has the strength because as he grows older he will not be as strong as now.
“Di natin minamaliit yung edad. Pero sa hirap ng buhay ng mga kababayan sa pandemyang ito and post pandemic, kailangang mabilis kumilos. So you know, there are things that needs to be considered,” he stressed. If he wins the presidential race, retirement is still the next thing he will after his term.
